REMOTE ACCESS - Art in STEM Master Class for Wide Bay Region Educators

About this Event

THE REMOTE VIEWING OF THIS WORKING WILL BE HOSTED BY THE BUNDABERG REGIONAL ART GALLERY IN THE SCHOOL OF ARTS BUILDING. ALL MATERIALS REQUIRED FOR THE EVENT WILL BE SENT DIRECTLY TO THE GALLERY.

In this Master Class you’ll have the opportunity to workshop strategies for teaching science, technology, engineering and maths through the lens of art.

Meet Matthew Adams of Infinife Designs, resident artist and RGQ volunteer, who will talk you through his creative process and learning experiences as a STEM-based sculptural artist.

Then, with the support of our Creative Reuse PD Facilitator, Anne Giacomantonio, we will help you experiment with our salvaged materials to design fun learning activities that extend your learners' creative capacities within the field of STEM.

This Master Class is suitable for Educators' currently teaching:

  • Early Years Learning Framework
  • QCAA and/or Australian Curriculum Prep to Year 6

Please note, sale of the tickets end on Friday the 19th of February in order to allow for the timely delivery of the Master Class materials to the Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery.

About Matthew

My conserFASHION/ ARTivism brand, Infinife Designs, uses collage/mixed media to visually remind us of our connectedness with the natural world. I often anthropomorphize animal and plant biological systems to give them a form we as humans can hopefully understand and empathise with more intimately. With my latest collection 'SOS: Save Our Symbionts' I seek to creatively engage the general public with the plight of our marine environments and the devastations they face through mass coral bleaching and the fossil fuel industry.

About Anne

Anne has been a member of the Reverse Garbage Queensland team for 5 years. In that time she’s contributed across a few roles within the co-operative finally settling in the workshops team as an educator and facilitator. Working across age groups from Early Years through to adult and Professional Development workshops she brings a sense of play and exploration to all her workshops.

Anne has professional qualifications in communications and a background in creative thinking and making. Within the RGQ educational setting Anne takes inspiration from young people’s enthusiasm, bubbling ideas and knowledge of the need for change.

She has a strong interest in circular / closed loops design and cooperative problem solving.

She likes nothing more than to be inspired by something unidentifiable that makes its way into the RGQ Warehouse. Disassociating its original purpose and reworking it into something new and fun.
